This time we are in search of wild daffodils near Allesley, in a field that is a sea of yellow at the appropriate time and which is now a nature reserve and part of the Warwickshire Wildlife Trust. This area is a pocket of surprisingly unspoilt countryside within the boundaries of the City and is designated as a Historic Landscape Area called 'Coventry's Ancient Arden' in the city's development plans. This site is one of the last remaining wild daffodil meadows in the area. It is rich in other spring flowers and has diverse mature hedges and a small pond, and we are visiting at the very best time of the year to appreciate it fully.

We meet at 11:15am in Pool Meadow to catch the No 7 or 900 bus to Allesley, where we repair to the RAINBOW for an half hour before setting off.

At 12:30pm we start walking over the road and through the churchyard. We cross Coundon Wedge, which we have done on many occassions in the past. We arrive at the WHITE LION at 1:15pm where we can stay for half an hour.

Then, at 1:45pm, rather than return through Coundon Wedge, we set off westward for a change. We follow a path that skirts the rear of the properties in Hawkes End before coming out at a junction of lanes. We follow Oak Lane towards Harvest Hill and then, just before a lane on the left, there is a triangular field. This is the nature reserve, which should be a carpet of daffodils. We should arrive here at 2:45pm.

After this we follow the lane towards Pickford and take a path on the left to return to Allesley, where we can retire to the RAINBOW at 3:45pm.
