Here is what we think is the only comprehensive record of pubs and beerhouses within the Coventry city boundaries going back as far as available records allow. This is an ongoing project so contributions, corrections or additions to this archive, especially anecdotes, photos and media are most welcome. Feel free to contact us for a pint and a chat anytime.

The Sportsmans Arms Hotel

This name usually refers to country sports such as hunting, racing, fishing, golf, rowing, archery or bowls.

This is a massive pub on the main A45, a pre-war M&B roadhouse. Yet despite its size the ceilings were low. It had a pannelled lounge and basic bar and an endless procession of functions room and banqueting suites.

Since c2000 it has been the Quality hotel.
