Here is what we think is the only comprehensive record of pubs and beerhouses within the Coventry city boundaries going back as far as available records allow. This is an ongoing project so contributions, corrections or additions to this archive, especially anecdotes, photos and media are most welcome. Feel free to contact us for a pint and a chat anytime.

The Red House

wmids - red house coventry hoskins early 92 JL
I can only imagine that this name refers to the colour of the brickwork on the building. The pub had a pleasure garden attached. In 1925 a music license was granted for use in the lawn and athletic ground at the Red House. In the late 1970's and early 1980's it was owned by Hoskins brewery of Leicester. In the late 1980's it was owned by Hoskins brewery of Leicester for a few years and after that became Fatty Arbuckle's nightclub for a while.
