This pub was named after the family that owns Arbury Hall near Nuneaton. They were a local coal mine owning family. In 1835 this was theBEERHOUSE, Smithford Street. In 1852 a license was granted to James Eaves for the Newdegate Arms.

11 Hill Street suffered bomb damage In 1941 (see clipping below) and it closed on 3rd November 1961.
