The Mysterious Monk

Whitley Mill is on a section of river that runs through a change in bedrock and forms a rather lovely section overshaddowed by the inappropriately designed and sited Raquets Centre at Whitley. The bridge once carried the main route into Coventry. The mill was demolished around 1950. Photo from Colin's Cornucopia

THIS PREMISES WAS KNOWN BY DIFFERENT NAMES DURING ITS HISTORY FROM TO KNOWN AS
1952 1987 WHITLEY ABBEY HOTEL
1987 1994 MYSTERIOUS MONK
1995 1997 CHURCHILLS
Until 13th June 1986 this was the WHITLEY ABBEY HOTEL. From c1994 it was CHURCHILLS. Who the mysterious monk was, I have no idea. Perhaps there never really was one.
