Here is what we think is the only comprehensive record of pubs and beerhouses within the Coventry city boundaries going back as far as available records allow. This is an ongoing project so contributions, corrections or additions to this archive, especially anecdotes, photos and media are most welcome. Feel free to contact us for a pint and a chat anytime.

Marlborough Arms

NAME MARLBOROUGH ARMS
ADDRESS Not known

There is only one known record of the Marlborough, in the Coventry Herald and Observer of 7.10.1859.

We do have other Thompsons reorded. In the 1850's there are Thompson's at the Beehive and the Black Dog, Cook Street. In 1835 there is a Thomas Thompson at the beerhouse in Warwick Lane. Could this have been the name of the beerhouse ? There is no other record of Burscough

Known Licensees are;
1859 John Thompson
1859 Peter Burscough
