Here is what we think is the only comprehensive record of pubs and beerhouses within the Coventry city boundaries going back as far as available records allow. The Horse and Trumpet


Spon End in the 1920s

I imagine that this is a reference to coaching, the coach horn being the trumpet. In 1756 6 soldiers were billeted here. In 1762 it became a depot for wagons carrying parcels to Northamptonshie, Leicestershire and Derbyshire and in 1774 it was advertised for sale.
