Here is what we think is the only comprehensive record of pubs and beerhouses within the Coventry city boundaries going back as far as available records allow. This is an ongoing project so contributions, corrections or additions to this archive, especially anecdotes, photos and media are most welcome. Feel free to contact us for a pint and a chat anytime.

In 1857 one of Coventry's first factories was built to manufacture a new product for the weaving industry - elastic. An elegant and imposing factory was built where the bus garage stands now. All that remains now is the pub used by the elastic workers.

In 1982 it was 'an excellent town centre pub. The closest real ale to the bus station. The meeting place of the local CAMRA branch'. In 1985 'A friendly pub close to the bus station. Excellent beer'. It closed in 2012 to become student accomodation.

I don't know what was going on between 1907 and 1957 with the Padburys and Walfords.
