The Coachmaker's Company was incorporated in 1677. It was an important trade in a time of growing traffic on the roads. To 1889 this pub was owned by Ratliff's. On their take over by Phillips and Marriots it was valued at £1300. it closed on 23rd April 1967

19.10.1835 JA40 H John Elliott senior ( beer retailer ) mortgaged it to Daniel Brown ( ribbon manufacturer ) for £ 350.

16.2.1835 JA40 H John Elliott senior's will left his father-in-law Joseph Hands and James Healey ( Coventry, watch case makers ) 5 newly erected messuages in Thomas Street, occupied by Henry Collingborne et al, on behalf of his wife Sarah for life, then to his children equally ( Charles, Joseph Harris and John junior ).

6.1849 JA40 H Daniel Brown died
By his will of 17.4.1846 he left his motgage estates to his executors -

William Keatley ( watch manufacturer )

16.7.1849 JA40 H Joseph Taylor and William Keatley assign the mortgage to Robert Vernon Masters.

28.11.1854 JA40 H Robet Vernon Masters assigns the mortgage to Jonathan Bray

18.1.1862 JA40 H Jonathan Bray assigns the mortgage to James Wall ( Coventry, ribbon manufacturer ).

30.9.1880 JA40 H John Elliott junior mortgagaed to Thomas Hughes ( solicitor ) his interest for redemption at 5% per anum
