Here is what we think is the only comprehensive record of pubs and beerhouses within the Coventry city boundaries going back as far as available records allow. This is an ongoing project so contributions, corrections or additions to this archive, especially anecdotes, photos and media are most welcome. Feel free to contact us for a pint and a chat anytime.

ADDRESS CITY ARCADE
This pub was named after the Coventry fork truck and pump engine manufacturers (later Kalmar Climax) at the time when they built the engines that powered the Cooper - Climax and Lotus - Climax cars to Formula 1 World Championships. It opened on 21.12.1962 and was said at the time to be a joint effort between Flowers and Ansells. In January 1984 it became the BUG AND BLACK BAT, a modern fun pub complete with loud music, flashing lights and garish decor. By 1994 the name had changed again to ROSIE O'BRIENS PUMPHOUSE! The name is yet another silly marketing man's creation.
