Here is what we think is the only comprehensive record of pubs and beerhouses within the Coventry city boundaries going back as far as available records allow. THIS BECAME ROSE AND WOODBINE
In the 1841 census John Oughton, 36, is a ribbon weaver in Swanswell Field. In 1851 he is 46 and a ribbon weaver in Stoke. In 1861 he is 56 and a silk weaver in North Street. By 1871 he is 65 and a beer house keeper in North Street, the Rose and Woodbine Public House.
Known Licensees are;
1868 - 1876 John Orton (or Oughton) (Allotments)
