Here is what we think is the only comprehensive record of pubs and beerhouses within the Coventry city boundaries going back as far as available records allow. This is an ongoing project so contributions, corrections or additions to this archive, especially anecdotes, photos and media are most welcome. Feel free to contact us for a pint and a chat anytime.

ADDRESS STOKE
THIS BECAME BOWLING GREEN

In the 1871 census there are two Thomas Coopers. One is 86, a widower and retired weaver in Primrose Hill Street and one is 50 and a bone dealer in South Street.

This is a well known publicans name in Coventry. This is probably the Bowling Green in Stoke, otherwise Harnall Lane where the licensees in 1868 were Marlow & Cooper.

Known Licensees are;
1866 Thomas Cooper
