In the 1841 census henry Gamble, 35, was a coal dealer in Lockhurst Lane. By 1851 he was 50 and a butcher in Lockhurst Lane. In 1861 he was 60 and again described as a coal dealer in Lockhurst Lane. In 1871 he was 65 and a farmer in Lockehurst Lane.

Meanwhile, in 1861 Frances Needham was 36 and a housekeeper for Henry Gamble. In 1871 she was 46 and again Henry Gamble's housekeeper.

Recorded as a public house only once, in 1879. .
