Here is what we think is the only comprehensive record of pubs and beerhouses within the Coventry city boundaries going back as far as available records allow. This is an ongoing project so contributions, corrections or additions to this archive, especially anecdotes, photos and media are most welcome. In the 1841 census Edward Clarke is 50 and a publican in Carpenters Lane ( i.e. Lockhurst Lane ). In the 1851 cenus there is an Edward Clarke, 72, with no occupation given, married to Mary Clarke, 62, a publican. In 1861 there are no matching records.

Edward Clarke will also be found under Beerhouse Foleshill; Beerhouse, Little Heath and Beerhouse, Carpenters Lane, all the same premises but with no known name
