Here is what we think is the only comprehensive record of pubs and beerhouses within the Coventry city boundaries going back as far as available records allow. This is an ongoing project so contributions, corrections or additions to this archive, especially anecdotes, photos and media are most welcome. In the 1841 census Maria Barton is 30 and living in Hill Street Place as the wife of Henry Barton, a weaver.

There are four Bartons in the website in the nineteenth century;

1841 Joseph Barton at the Beerhouse, Fleet Street
1850 - 94 Edward Barton at the Hill Cross
1868 A. Barton at the Livery Stables
1871 - 1874 Henry barton at the Town Wall Tavern

Known Licensees are; 1835 Maria Barton
