Here is what we think is the only comprehensive record of pubs and beerhouses within the Coventry city boundaries going back as far as available records allow. This is an ongoing project so contributions, corrections or additions to this archive, especially anecdotes, photos and media are most welcome. Feel free to contact us for a pint and a chat anytime.

One know beerhouse here. Was it a pub at other times? In the 1871 census Charles Salisbury is a ribbon weaver at an out-licensed public house, 13 Upper Canterbury Street. Is an out-licensed public house the same as an off-license ?

The only other mention of a Salisbury on the website is Edward Salisbury who was licensee of the Beerhouse, also known as the Reindeer, Harnall Place, 1841 - 1845.

Known Licensees are; 1874 - 1875 C. Salisbury
